Do sins or skills separate us from God?
Having a discussion with a fellow Christian regarding business and it seems that Christian theology is getting in the way of Christians being successful, or even more successful, both for God and in the marketplace.
The discussion was around the issue of each of our many physical talents versus our one spiritual gift, and “flesh” and our “spirit,” including sins.
He was elevating and expanding our spiritual gifts way beyond it’s rightful place, alongside our physical talents. He was trying to say that our “flesh,” our physical talents were not as important as our “spirit,” our spiritual gifts, he used plural form of the word.
It comes down to this one accurate comment: We are physically born with many physical talents, we are spiritually born with one spiritual gift.
1 Cor 12:8-10 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
But our many physical talents and one spiritual gift never separates us from God. So then what does?
