Jesus Christ is the model for us to worship and work in business

Denver, CO – Today, and Kevin Cullis announces the launch of his newest book, How Would Jesus Do Business? Bible Secrets for Startups and Entrepreneurs, on March 12, 2015.

Jesus Christ from age 6 to age 12, Jesus was taught Torah, the Old Testament. From age 12 to  age 30 He first worked in what we would call today a “general contractor” career. In other words, Jesus worked in and ran His own business for 18 years! About 85 percent of His 40+ parables are about various business topics? Jesus says in Luke 14:28, “For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it?” When was the last time you heard a sermon in church on project and cost management? Sherman writes in Your Work Matters to God, “Our surveys reveal that 90-97% of Christians have never heard a sermon relating biblical principles to their work life.” While sermons about work are increasing, where are the ones about startups or businesses? More needs to be done.

Each of our unique and God-designed talents and skills are “for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them” (Eph 2:10). But what about businesses and startups? Where do they fit into God’s plan? More words have been written of Christ’s three years of His ministry and divinity than of Jesus’ humanity and His business acumen. In reality, we are ALL in business, however we earn our living. Yet, the lack of Christian business content hinders God in His quest to build His Kingdom.

Joel Comm, New York Times Best-Selling Author, says of Cullis’ book,

“I’m not sure how some in the Church have found a way to equate business and profitability to something sinful, but it couldn’t be further from the truth. God is creative, and He has given us the ability to create so that we may prosper. After all, it takes resources to responsibly care for yourself and your family, let alone feed the hungry and clothe the naked. In this book, Kevin Cullis shares what the Bible really says about doing business, making money and making it all work for God’s glory.”

If your talents could create a cure for a disease, would you hide it from those that need it? Luke 11:33 says, “No one, after lighting a lamp, puts it away in a cellar nor under a basket, but on the lamp stand, so that those who enter may see the light.” Unfortunately, individuals have many undiscovered, buried, even underutilized talents. Their multiple talents lamp is under a basket of remorse, regret, and resignation. God wants us in the fight, to be the light in a dark business world.

How Would Jesus Do Business? book synopsis

Jesus had a business for nearly two decades with the Torah/Old Testament and “love you neighbor as yourself” as His business foundation and sharing His business experience in His 40+ parables, 85% of which were business topics. Each 75 lb gold talent in His parable of the talents is worth $1.44 MILLION today, with one slave receiving over $7 MILLION to work. This book explores biblical business wisdom and wealth and the humanity of Jesus in business. It discovers that God-given talented individuals are to cooperate with others. We’re made for an abundant blessings business economy and God is watching all of our business transactions. We’re stewards of His blessings to share with others until the day we each give a accounting of our lives.
